The citizens of Highland Park decided to organize a fire company and appointed J.J. Gregg as chairman of the committee.
December 12, 1904
A parcel of ground was donated to the organization by Mr. Molly to erect a building.
April 28, 1905
Application was made to the court for a charter of incorporation to be known as the Highland Park Hose Company.
May 1, 1905
The honorable J.M. Woods, judge, granted the petition and Highland Park Hose Company was established. George Tate built the building in 1906 for a cost of $2,400.00 to house a 2 wheeled cart donated by the Lewistown Borough. The second story of the fire company was used as an apartment.
March 1909
The company purchased a bell for the cost of $ 16.80, which was placed in the bell tower and equipped with a pull rope to send a signal to the people when someone needed help. It was later equipped with a electric switch outside of the building so that anyone could use it in a time of need.
May 20, 1929
The first motor truck was placed into service, which was built by the company members on a Willy Knight chassis donated by Keystone Motor Company of Lewistown. On October 19, 1933 the Willy Knight was replaced with a Packard which was also built by the company under the supervision of Frank Schellenburg.
May 16, 1938
An addition was built onto the existing station to house the more modern equipment.
September 15, 1940
The company purchased a Sealand, 500 gallon per minute triple combination pumper, which, at that time, was one of the most modern fire apparatus in the community.
1959
Two additional bays were added to the station and a 1959 Ford/ Howe with a piston pump was purchased to replace the Sealand. In addition to the new ford engine the company purchased a 1953 ford chassis and placed a 1,800 gallon stainless steel milk tank on it.
1970
The 1953 tanker was replaced with a 1970 international chassis and the 1,800 gallon tank was moved onto the new truck.
1978
The 1959 Ford/Howe was replaced with a 1978 International/ Howe 750/750.
1984
Facing foreclosure and closing the doors because of inflation and lack of interest, the membership, lead by Donald Russell, then treasure, regrouped and began a mission to save the company and provide the community with the fire protection they pay for and deserve.
1993
The company purchased a 1980 Mack CF from FDNY and had it refurbished by J.C. Moore Co.
1996
The company purchased a 1980 Mack CF from FDNY and had it refurbished by J.C. Moore Co. A twin to the mack purchased in 1993.
1998
The old fire station was tore down and replaced with are current 3 bay building.
2002
A new E-One engine was designed and purchased by the company members.
2005
The company celebrated 100 years of service to our community.
2008
The company purchased a 2008 Ford F-550/ Reading squad equipped with rescue tools, 300 gallon skid unit, and other miscellaneous tools.
